“When you are grieving, windows to healing can come in unusual ways.“
There are so many ways you can experience grief. Grief is the anguish you feel after a significant loss. We often think of it solely as the loss of a loved one but anyone who has lost a home or a job or something deeply important to them, experiences grief. It is, "What I had is gone and no matter what, I can't bring them or it back". Grief causes anxiety, confusion, yearning, obsessive dwelling on the past, and apprehension about the future.
Loss is a part of our human experience. When you lose a loved one, the pain can be indescribable. The loss of a spouse or a child, a sibling, or a parent can feel as if you have lost a limb. I know this because I have experienced it. I lost my husband six years ago. You may suddenly feel like you are alone in life. As you begin the journey of looking for a path out of the grief, you try what ever it is that is in front of you, trying to get back into life. If this is your first deep loss then you may have questions of what happened to your love one when they died. Is this life all we have? If you have a spiritual sense, you may wonder, "Did they make it to the other side...are they okay? Is there a heaven?
We all have a story we imagined about our lives. When you experience great loss, that story changes dramatically. I have a deep understanding of grief, loss and trauma, and still, when I lost my husband, I didn't have control over my grief. But as a genealogist with over 15 years experience, I realized I was a part of a bigger story and understanding that bigger story began to help. That story, your story is woven together from countless generations. Understanding your Ancestors, your Ancestral lineage, your family story of the past can help you along your grief path. I help people trace their Ancestral Story.
Ancestral Healing is understanding and releasing inherited wounds and traumas that have been passed down by our ancestors helping you understand who you are today. Many of your ancestors faced grief and loss but as you learn more you will discover in this process, their resilience in the face of those traumas. Taking the journey to look back, helps you understand your life’s journey and your grief today. Their stories are a part of you. You will feel the connection and it will help you with the emotions you continue to experience today. I know how to help you uncover their stories.
I also know the path through grief is not easy but there are ways to navigate it. As a certified End of Life Doula from the University of Vermont, I am trained and have worked with people struggling with grief and loss. I know how to help you understand how it affects your mind, body, and spirit. You will see all of the parts of grief and trauma and find a pathway to not only intimately understand your grief and how it works but also understand how it affects your emotions and reactions in your everyday life. And I help guide you as you explore the deeper spiritual questions that often accompany great loss.
